This is what sceptics have been waiting for, yet it’s rarely talked about.

The Utah UFO

The Beaver Utah UFO

In October 2016, Sam Chortek and Jimmy Chappie were shooting b-roll footage for a commercial using a drone in Beaver, Utah. They parked on the side of the road, flew the drone up and got some panoramic shots. They packed up their gear and drove home. Reviewing the raw footage, they noticed they had captured an Unidentified Flying Object zipping past the drone. Neither Sam Chortek nor Jimmy Chappie wanted any attention from this sighting, but agreed to release the raw 4k footage on YouTube.

Analysis

The footage is raw and unedited, which is verified by the metadata. Meaning the footage isn’t CGI, and hasn’t been edited with any kind of visual effects.

Let’s calculate the speed: The GPS metadata pinpointed the exact position of the drone, and Google Maps show that the mountains the object navigates through are 2.5 miles away. It takes the UFO 59 frames to move around the mountain range and past the drone, and it takes 1 second for the object to navigate out of the mountain range and zip past the camera. If we round the 59 to 60 frames, the object travels 60 frames in one second. This also means that the object is travelling 2.5 miles in one second. Upon dividing the distance and time, we get a speed of 9,000mph.

The object operates at 9,000mph without making a sonic boom and manoeuvres out of the mountain range very smoothly and with ease. Being consistent in its movements. To have that type of manoeuvrability at such a high speed without making a sonic boom is impossible. Yet, this object manages to achieve both.

Enhanced imaging provided by Brian Hanley on YouTube

Enhanced imaging reveals that the sun is reflecting off of the top of the UFO, which indicates the object is metallic. The enhancement also reveals that in terms of design, the UFO appears to be disc-shaped, with both the front and back of the object curved, which shows the intentional design of the UFO’s shape. The object being metallic also debunks popular explanations, including ones claiming the object is an insect or a bird.

Popular debunks

  1. CGI

Some speculate this could be another CGI hoax, however, the metadata in the raw footage confirms that the footage has not been edited or tampered with in any way.

2. An insect or a bird

Some debunkers claim the object is an insect flying close to the camera. Early in the footage, an insect is caught on camera, showing what insects look like to the drone camera (2:00 on the raw footage). It was black and flying in typical insect fashion; the object in this video, however, looks entirely different to that insect. It’s hard to make out, but early in the footage, you can see the object navigating through the mountain range, dipping in and out of view behind the trees in the Ridgeline, meaning the UFO is large. Further, given its shape with no flapping wings, trajectory with no dive, and incredible velocity, the object can’t be a bird of a bug.

Additionally, the enhanced imaging of the object reveals it to be made of metallic material, further ruling out any possibility it’s an insect or a bird.

3. An optical illusion

While most debunkers generally argue for the first two explanations, some say that the UFO is an optical illusion or a lens flare from the drone. Early in the footage, we can see the object manoeuvring behind the ridgeline in the mountain range, which is 2.5 miles from the camera. This confirms the object is at least 2 miles from the camera, ruling out the possibility of it being an optical illusion or lens flare. Either way, the UFO parallax matches the hill parallax, which wouldn’t occur if it wasn’t a physical object.

4. Another drone/hoax

This is the explanation we can safely confirm to be 100% false. It’s impossible for the UFO in the footage to be a drone, or another kind of physical object, as the calculated speed of the UFO is around 9,000mph. Currently, no kind of drone can reach those speeds. And if there is, it’s not currently available to the public, ruling out the possibility of this object being a drone.

Summary

The Beaver UFO is an object flying around 9,000mph, travelling 2.5 miles in 1 second. It was captured in raw, unedited footage and showcased the object’s extraordinary speed and manoeuvrability. Now we know it’s a legitimate UFO/UAP; the next question is into its origins, which are currently unknown. Some think it’s a man-made military craft, as the Beaver, Utah, is around 6 hours from Area 51 in Nevada. Others believe it’s evidence of extraterrestrial technology, given its shape, manoeuvrability, and usage of impossible physics. While both explanations are certainly possible, one thing remains certain; the Beaver UFO is a legitimate UFO/UAP sighting that deserves more coverage in the UFO space.
