While abduction stories generally aren’t believable, Terry Lovelace is a fascinating exception.

The UFO space has many different avenues, from sightings to government projects, different crafts and abduction stories. While most reports of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) are sightings, some individuals claim to have been abducted by extraterrestrial crafts. Verifying abduction stories is challenging since they’re hard to prove and generally offer little evidence. Because of this, abductees are rarely taken seriously in UFO space. While some abduction stories can be enjoyable and well-written, most are hoaxes. However, there is one particularly compelling story.

Terry Lovelace is a lawyer and former district attorney general who served as a media and EMT in the United States Air Force between 1973 and 1979. He claims to have been abducted by an extraterrestrial craft. Lovelace’s story is fascinating and one of, if not the only, plausible and believable abduction stories.

Terry’s story

Terry Lovelace had never believed in alien abductions until one fateful camping trip in the remote wilderness of Arkansas, in June of 1977. Terry and his friend Toby were setting up camp when they noticed a bright light hovering over the trees. They assumed it was a helicopter at first, but as the light descended and shone on them, they realised it was something entirely different. It was a massive, triangular-shaped craft that silently hovered over their campsite.

Terry’s description of the craft.

The light emitted from a massive, triangular-shaped craft that silently hovered over their campsite. The craft appeared to be made of a reflective metal material and had no visible seams or rivets. It was roughly 60 feet long on each side, and each corner had a bright white light that pulsed in a synchronised pattern. This object bore a resemblance to the vessel seen later on during the “Phoenix Lights” event in 1997, but more on that another time.

As Lovelace and Toby watched in amazement, the craft suddenly lifted into the air and disappeared into the night sky. But the bizarre encounter was far from over. Lovelace and Toby experienced several hours of missing time, after falling into a drowsy state.

Once they woke, they found the craft was no longer above them, but hovering in the nearby field. Under it, what appeared to be a group of children. There were a dozen supposed children walking around in the meadow in pairs and groups of three. “What are these kids doing out here in the middle of the night?” Terry asked, to which Toby replied “‘They aren’t little kids. Don’t you remember they took us and they hurt us?’

In later years, Terry practised hypnosis in order to regain his lost memories. During one of these sessions, Lovelace recalled being taken aboard the craft, where he was examined by strange beings that appeared to be conducting medical experiments on him. The creatures were humanoid in shape, but their features were distorted and almost inhuman. They communicated telepathically with each other and appeared to be conducting some sort of medical procedure on Lovelace. As Terry went through more hypnosis sessions, he had flashes of memory of being on a supposed exam table, screaming as loud as he could, but could not hear any noise coming out of his mouth. “Why are you screaming? Stop screaming. You know we don’t hurt you. You know we take you back, stop screaming, “ Terry hears telepathically in his head.

During a hospitalisation that same year, Terry was visited by two men who identified themselves as OSI (US Air Force Office of Special Investigations). He was informed that he was being investigated and must write down everything that happened. Terry was also threatened with a court-martial for trespassing on federal land. Terry and Toby were separated and reassigned once the US Air Force heard what had happened. The encounter left both men traumatised, with Toby losing his life over the trauma from this experience later in life.

The experience left Terry Lovelace deeply shaken and with many unanswered questions. He later wrote a book about his encounter, hoping to shed light on the truth about alien abductions and encourage others to come forward with their own experiences. His book is titled “Incident at Devils Den: A True Story.”

While this sounds like a standard abduction story, this isn’t where the story ends.

The X-rays

In 2012, a routine X-ray of his leg revealed an embedded piece of metal around the size of a fingernail with tiny wires sticking out of it. The object appears to look like a computer chip, with two small wires headed up toward his head; it’s unclear how far up these wires went. As well as this, multiple other implants were spotted, all of them varying in shape. Despite taking twenty-four films, he was only allowed access to six as the rest were claimed to be “destroyed”, which Terry doesn’t find believable. They also discovered a collection of objects around the size of Tic Tacs arranged in a floral pattern embedded in his calf muscle. The crazy part about this story is that no part of Terry’s leg showed any sign of incision or surgery. These objects were just there without any medical procedure. The radiologist who discovered the object said, “It’s impossible to breach the integrity of the skin without leaving a scar.” Whatever these implants were, they were inserted in his body “by no means of medical science.” The radiologist said he’d never seen anything like it, calling the situation “disturbing.”

What were these implants? Were they microchips for an experiment? Surveillance? Roger Leir is a podiatric surgeon and Ufologist who spent his life investigating alleged alien implants. After Terry’s implants were surgically removed, they were found to contain rare elements, some of which do not naturally occur on Earth and are only found in meteorites.

While it’s healthy to remain sceptical, the story of Terry Lovelace is one of the more compelling abduction stories and is quite extraordinary. How did Terry end up with foreign implants in his body without surgical insertion? Also, the fact that these objects contained rare non-earthly materials is quite compelling. The aftermath of this encounter certainly gives credibility to the story, and perhaps something really did happen that night.
